Zemo's 2024 Summit brought together government ministers from Westminster, Holyrood and the Senedd as well as local government leads and representatives of key public sector organisations and businesses. Approaching 200 delegates also heard a keynote address from Professor Sir Jim Skea CBE, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which outlined the latest science and scale of the climate challenge. All speeches and other resources from the Summit are now available on a dedicated web page.
In advance of the Summit, Professor Skea said: “Climate change is an urgent and critical planetary challenge, warranting immediate and determined action across all continents and all sectors of human activity. Decarbonising transport is a key part of the solution.”
Speaking at the Summit, transport minister Simon Lightwood MP praised the work of the Partnership and its members: "Zemo is a key partner in the transition to net zero transport in the UK; It has not only played a role, it has excelled in it."
Delegates attending the event were positive about the event with 75% of those responding describing it as 'Good' or 'Very Good'.
