Zap-Map has launched two new peer-to-peer electric vehicle (EV) charging services – Zap-Home and Zap-Work – designed to allow charge point owners to share their devices with other EV drivers. The new services from Zap Map will allow domestic and business charge point owners to earn money by sharing their unit while it’s not in use.
In a recent survey by Zap-Map, 48% of users said they would be willing to share their charge points with others, which could potentially mean the addition of a further 60,000 EV charge points to the Zap Map network. it was also found that more than 30 per cent of workplace charge point owners are willing to share their devices.
Such an addition to Zap-Map would dramatically expand the EV charging infrastructure available to registered users, as well as providing for those without off-street parking or a workplace charge.
Zap-Map’s director Melanie Shufflebotham said: “Zap-Home and Zap-Work complement the UK's rapidly expanding public EV charging infrastructure, confirming the country as one of the world's leading plug-in car markets.
“Zap-Map will continue to innovate in 2018 with new product features, more dynamic data partners, and additional buying tools to help drivers make the transition to EVs and to maintain our position as the UK's No.1 EV charging platform and network aggregator.”
