It's been another very busy year in low carbon transport. Whether you've taken part in one of the LowCVP's 12 working group meetings, attended the Annual Conference, participated in the LowCVP Champions Awards or read one, or more, of the Partnership's twelve monthly newsletters, the Secretariat would like to thank you for being involved and taking part in the drive to cut carbon from road transport.
In addition to the working groups, we've held four Board and four Members Council meetings and, with the DfT, introduced the new Transport Energy Task Force as well as over 60 related related sub-group and project meetings and other events. Our government engagement has been at unprecedented levels too, with LowCVP supporting the extensive range of government initiatives emerging to continue the focus on lower carbon transport.
Two government ministers, the Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change and nearly 200 other senior delegates attended the LowCVP's Annual Conference in July. September's Low Carbon Champions Awards were presented, for the first time, over an excellent networking dinner held in collaboration with LCV-Cenex and attended by around 250 people.
We've published well over 200 news stories about low carbon road transport on the new(ish) website (most of which have been circulated through the free monthly newsletter) and have also made several hundred sub-140-character tweets to our Twitter followers who exceeded 1000 in number this year.
We've been trying to measure the impact of all this activity of course. Our report, 'Investing in the Low Carbon Journey' (one of seven reports commissoned by the LowCVP and published this year) found that average new car CO2 emissions have been falling at an historically unprecedented rate and that the UK motor industry has helped to strengthen the UK economy as a result of the maintained and consistent low carbon policy focus.
We're planning to make 2015 an even better year for low carbon road transport and look forward to the continuing full and committed engagement of our (more than) 180 members and other stakeholders in this vibrant community.
Have a good holiday!
