Japan's second largest carmaker, Nissan, has announced plans to develop its own petrol-electric hybrid technology and begin selling hybrid cars by 2010. The announcement - reported by the Financial Times - comes little more than a year after Nissan's Chief Executive described hybrids as "a terrible business proposition".
According to a Reuters report, Nissan will also work to develop bioethanol cars with the help of its partner, Renault, and will provide the French company with fuel cell and hybrid car technologies.
