New transport and energy ministers confirmed following General Election

Jesse Norman is the new minister at the Department for Transport with responsibility for transport and environment, as well as road freight and buses. In support of the low carbon vehicle agenda Jesse will also take joint responsibility for OLEV together with Claire Perry who has replaced Nick Hurd at BEIS. Overall responsibility for DEFRA falls to Michael Gove, the new Secretary of State at Defra, though Thérèse Coffey will take direct responsibility for air quality issues.
Jesse Norman MP was formerly Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from July 2016 until June 2017. He was elected as the MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire in May 2010.
During the 2010 to 2015 Parliament Jesse was a member of the Treasury Select Committee and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Employee Ownership. In June 2015 he was elected Chair of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. In 2012 he was awarded Spectator Parliamentarian of the Year and The House Backbencher of the Year.
Claire Perry MP, who becomes Minister of State for Climate Change and Industry worked as an adviser to George Osborne before being elected as the MP for the Devizes constituency in central Wiltshire in May 2010.
In her political career to date she has been: a member of the Justice Select Committee from 2010 to 2011; a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Defence from 2011 to 2013; Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on preventing the sexualisation and commercialisation of children; a Government Whip in 2013 and in 2014 and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport from 2014 to 2016.
Claire Perry also takes on responsibility for industrial strategy.
Thérèse Coffey who has been appointed as a Parliamentary Under Secretary at Defra with responsibility for air quality, is MP for Suffolk Coastal in May 2010. She graduated from University College London (UCL) with a PhD in chemistry.
In her political career to date, she has served as Deputy Leader of the House of Commons from May 2015 until July 2016. She also served on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee until she was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Michael Fallon, Minister for Business and Energy.
She has campaigned on stopping the A14 toll, improving NHS experience for patients and better broadband.
Outside politics, Thérèse has worked for the international company Mars and for the BBC. She enjoys watching football, gardening and music, especially Muse. She is a CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) member.
