The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership has appointed Chris Brown as the Stakeholder Relations Manager to extend the reach of the Department for Transport’s ACT ON CO2 campaign.

ACT ON CO2 is a cross-government brand that offers practical solutions to help people to reduce their carbon footprint. Chris will work with organisations across the broad automotive sector including motoring and consumer groups to raise awareness of the campaign and develop and implement practical initiatives for stakeholders to encourage the purchase of low carbon vehicles and promote eco-driving.

LowCVP Director Greg Archer said: “The ACT ON CO2 campaign has already achieved a major impact amongst the car driving public, encouraging consumers to choose the lowest emitting cars and to drive as economically as possible, to reduce emissions and save money at the fuel pump. This new role will engage businesses and other organisations and seek their active participation in disseminating the campaigns messages.”

Chris Brown has worked as a communications consultant in various transport-related sectors, including major car manufacturers, a transport fuel trade association and the Institute of Advanced Motorists. He commented “There is tremendous potential for ACT ON CO2 to act as a catalyst for change in how consumers and businesses choose and drive cars. I am greatly looking forward to the challenge of making this happen with a range of partners.”

The appointment comes as the Department for Transport and Defra launched their integrated marketing campaign which combines the transport elements alongside those of energy-saving in the home.

In addition, a new one stop shop website for online tools and information about reducing your carbon footprint also went live last week – it can be found by searching on line for ACT ON CO2.

Organisations wishing to get involved with the transport elements of the ACT ON CO2 campaign, should contact Chris Brown through the LowCVP Secretariat.
