Mercedes and Peugeot are set to be the first two light commercial vehicle manufacturers to publish CO2 and mpg data across their van ranges. The figures are based on unladen vans using the passenger car test cycle, now regarded as the standard for light vans also. Following an EU directive that emissions data for all goods vehicles under 3.5 tonnes must be monitored by member state governments from 1 January 2008, both brands are going a step further and publishing the both emissions and fuel economy data as the legislation does not currently require manufacturers to make the information public.
Mercedes has said the van details would be available on the web as well as in a dedicated brochure early in 2008.
