Key themes of the LowCVP’s activities in 2011-12 will include work around incentivising and informing lower carbon choices for cars as well as projects to support outstanding British SMEs in engaging with potential investors and customers to help create a successful UK supply chain for low carbon vehicles and fuels.

Other themes of the LowCVP’s core programme (funded by the Government) which is to be ratified by the LowCVP Board on the 6th April, include work on future uses of biofuels and likely market developments 2020-30, identifying promising pathways to low carbon transport and building the market for low carbon buses.

Specific areas of activity which LowCVP will be undertaking in the coming months will include:

· Enhancing current UK car labelling schemes to strengthen information in order to incorporate electric vehicles

· Work to support the DfT on the implementation of the Renewable Energy & Fuel Quality Directives

· Building a consortium to provide improved information to van buyers 

· Coordination of an overseas trade exhibition for outstanding UK automotive SMEs at the Bibendum exhibition in Berlin

· Supporting the Department for Transport in developing policy plans for low carbon truck certification

The LowCVP’s work programme is delivered through Working Groups which include representatives of the Partnership’s member organisations. The Working Groups’ activities are facilitated by the LowCVP Secretariat. The Working Groups currently include: Passenger Cars; Fuels; Commercial Vehicles and Buses; and Innovation. The Members’ Council oversees the work programme with overall strategic direction provided by the Board.

The Partnership is close to concluding its 2010-11 programme with 20 of 24 projects proceeding on schedule.
