The membership of the LowCVP has grown to more than 200 organisations for the first time since the Partnership became a not-for-profit company in 2009.
Car makers make up around 15% of the LowCVP's member organisations, environmental, academic and other organisations about 20%, auto supply chain, consultants or technology providers 34%, fuel suppliers 14%, government and public sector bodies 10% and transport operators/consumer organisations 7%.
The LowCVP's membership base has grown strongly in recent months, assisted by a marketing push. The cost of membership is modest and is proportional to organisations' size and resources.
In addition to demonstrating leadership in the battle against climate change, membership of the LowCVP gives a wide range of potential benefits including:

- Significant networking opportunities with leading motor, fuels and environment organisations as well as with government
- Early access to research findings
- Access to government and EU officials through working group meetings and other communications

- Discounted access to a wide range of conferences, seminars and other events
- The ability to advertise relevant jobs and events, opinions or other activities to a wide audience at no cost.
In 2010, calculations showed that the LowCVP has saved a million tonnes of carbon through activties and initiatives since its inception in 2003.
Over the last year, these activities have included:

- Running of the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards and the LowCVP HGV Technology Challenge to recognise best practice in different areas of the low carbon road transport agenda
- Launch of Best Practice Principles for Environmental Marketing in collaboration with SMMT and ISBA
