LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards 2011 - brief nominations deadline extension!

The LowCVP has announced a brief extension to the deadline for nominations for for the LowCVP’s second Low Carbon Champions Awards which will be presented during a gala reception on November 14 at One Birdcage Walk, Westminster. The final deadline for nominations is now Wednesday 5 October.

The LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards 2011 are held in association with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). 

There are seven categories for the prestigious Low Carbon Champions Awards reflecting the diversity of those engaged in encouraging the shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels. There are also two special awards. The awards are for:

1. Low Carbon Car / Van Manufacturer of the Year
2. Low Carbon Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year
3. Low Carbon Vehicle Operator of the Year
4. Low Carbon Fuel Supplier of the Year
5. 2011 Award for Low Carbon Innovation by an SME
6. Low Carbon Road Transport Initiative of the Year
7. 2011 Outstanding Low Carbon Publication or Report

The special awards are:

8. Outstanding Individual in Promoting Lower Carbon Transport
9. Outstanding Achievement in Low Carbon Transport

To nominate your organisation for an Award, please visit the Champions Awards website for more information and a nomination form. You can also nominate supplier, partner or other organisations for an Award. Please complete the forms in the same way as for self-nomination. Alternatively send an email to: secretariat@lowcvp.org.uk giving the name of the organisation, the suggested Award category and a short explanation of why you think they are worthy of an Award.

The LowCVP Awards winners will be assessed by a panel of expert judges drawn from the LowCVP's wide range of stakeholder organisations. Click here to see the latest list of judges for the Champions Awards.

The Champions Awards will be presented at a gala reception to be held at One Birdcage Walk during the evening of 14 November. The keynote speaker at the Awards will be Tony Juniper a campaigner, writer, sustainability adviser and former Director of Friends of the Earth International. The gala reception is free to attend - visit the website for bookings.

The Awards reception will be preceded at One Birdcage Walk by an afternoon seminar on the subject 'Moving to a life-cycle assessment of vehicle emissions'. The agenda for this event will be published shortly. Please note that places are limited and that bookings are being taken as for the reception above. The event will be free for LowCVP and iMechE members but will cost £75 for non-members. (Organisations applying to join the Partnership before the event will be able to attend free.)

Winners of the 2010 LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards included: TfL London Bus Services, Go Ahead London, Greenergy International, Oxford YASA Motors, LeasePlan UK, Commercial Group, Iveco and BMW Group.
