The LowCVP is inviting up to six UK-based SMEs (small or medium-sized enterprises) to participate in a high profile Parliamentary Reception which will take place in the House of Commons on Monday March 9. The SMEs chosen will be given the opportunity to demonstrate how they are contributing to a low carbon transport future to a selected audience of MPs, public policy makers and leading road transport industry figures. The LowCVP has set a deadline of Friday 23 January for the receipt of nominations.
The LowCVP is co-hosting the Parliamentary reception in the House of Commons on the afternoon of March 9, 2015. The event will include the launch of a new report by Cambridge Econometrics - 'Fuelling Britain's Future' about the economic impact of low carbon vehicles in the UK - which has been commissioned by the European Climate Foundation.
This forward-looking report, builds on the LowCVP's retrospective study - 'Investing in the Low Carbon Journey' - which was published alongside the LowCVP's Annual Conference last July. The LowCVP report found that the UK automotive sector has been revitalised over the last ten years by consistently applied policy centred on cutting carbon.
Key speakers at the event will include Richard Burden MP, Shadow Transport Spokesman; Jerry Hardcastle, Global Chief Marketability Engineer, Nissan and Chairman of the Automotive Council Technology Group; and Rt Hon Danny Alexander MP (tbc), Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
The Reception will feature an exhibition of dynamic UK companies that are leading the way in low carbon road transport innovation, helping to deliver environmental benefits as well as successfully generating growth and jobs, or having strong prospects of doing so in the near future.
SMEs who would like to nominate themselves (or this can be done via a third-party) may do so by completing a short questionnaire. Exhibitors will receive two complimentary places for the event. Those selected will be expected to meet their own transport costs but the LowCVP will levy no charge and will meet event marketing and promotional costs from its own budget.
SMEs involved in all aspects of the drive to a low carbon transport future may apply, from any part of the vehicle and transport fuel supply chain, as well as those involved in operational activities. Preference may be given to LowCVP members but non-members should also apply as the primary objective will be to demonstrate as wide and representative a range of successful innovation in low carbon road transport as possible.
