On 11 October 2011, the LowCVP held an investor event in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) on the future of the low carbon vehicle (LCV) sector. The aim of the event was to provide an overview of the LCV industry to identify investment and networking opportunities for the investment community.

By allowing businesses to share their success stories and perspectives on the future of the industry, the event deepened investors' knowledge of the potential for growth and provided the opportunity to be part of bringing low carbon innovations to the UK and global vehicle market.

A packed investor audience got an exclusive look at an electric Mini and Lightning supercar and had the chance to ask questions to a panel of leading government and industry players in the LCV business along with presentations of case studies of successful investments in the LCV sector.

The keynote speaker Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Transport, outlined the Government's roadmap for the LCV industry and highlighted the importance of electric vehicles to the UK's goals of economic growth and reduced carbon emissions.

Transport expert and PwC Partner Jamie Houghton said: "We successfully brought policy makers, investors and business leaders at the highest level together to discuss the case for investment in LCVs and increase our profile with private equity, small and medium enterprises and public sector clients in this rapidly developing industry."

Greg Archer, MD of LowCVP chaired the case study session which looked at successful investments in electric vehicle and battery manufacturer in the UK, the development of recharging infrastructure and efficiency gains for internal combustion engines taken from motor racing and applied to the road.

Following the conference, the SMMT has published an on-demand web TV show about the event. The presentations are available as pdfs and can be downloaded from the Road to Returns website.
