LowCVP Chairman awarded an OBE in New Year Honours list

The LowCVP Chairman Graham Smith has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list for “services to the automotive industry”.
Graham Smith, Senior Vice-President, External and Environmental Affairs for Toyota Motor Europe, has been the Chairman of the LowCVP since its creation in 2003. He is also the current President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Greg Archer, the LowCVP Director said “This award is well deserved and reflects the leadership Graham provides to the motor industry. Graham has genuine concern for the environment and has been instrumental in shaping the successes and direction of the LowCVP as a supportive and highly effective Chairman.”
Graham has spent most of his career in the automotive industry. He has been with Toyota since 1993 and, prior to this, held a series of sales and marketing positions with Ford Motor Company. He is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge and holds a Masters Degree in Economics. He subsequently obtained a Diploma in Business Administration from Manchester Business School. He joined Toyota (GB) PLC as a Regional General Manager, was subsequently appointed Marketing Director in May 1994 and promoted to the position of Managing Director on the 1st January 1996. He became Senior Vice-President, External and Environmental Affairs for Toyota Motor Europe in 2006.
Graham now splits his time between Brussels, London and Horsham in West Sussex and lists his hobbies as sailing, cycling and classic cars.
