The LowCVP's has issued a call for evidence to inform a study on investment in the UK automotive sector and analyse the impacts of policy aimed at delivering low carbon objectives. The outcome of the study will be presented at the LowCVP's Annual Conference on July 15. The call for evidence will close on Friday 2 May

The aim of the project is to produce an evidence base for investment in the UK automotive sector and its supply chains over the last decade and to examine the impacts of low carbon-focused policies on investment decisions.

While average new car CO2 emissions have been falling at historically unprecedented rates, it's clear that investment in the UK automotive sector has been growing rapidly and has been a bright spot in an otherwise austere UK economic picture in recent years.

Consultancy E4tech and the Automotive Industry Research Centre, Cardiff Business School (CAIR) have been selected to undertake this research project following a competitive tender process.

The study is supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Greener Journeys. The project advisory panel also includes representatives of the SMMT, European Climate Foundation, Cambridge Judge Business School, LowCVP and two independent consultants with wide-ranging experience in the sector.

As one element of the research process for this project, the LowCVP is supporting the researchers in announcing a call for evidence which will inform the study's outputs. The evidence required focuses on how public policy has impacted on investment in the UK low carbon vehicles and fuels sector over the last decade.

The call takes the form of an on-line questionnaire, which takes no more than 15 minutes to complete.

Individuals with a responsibility for, or knowledge of, the reasons for investment decisions in the UK automotive sector and its supply chain are invited to respond to the call for evidence. These include - but may not be limited to - manufacturers, suppliers, users, innovators, researchers and academia. Responses can remain anonymous (though named responses are preferred) and you can respond either for your organisation or as an individual.
