The LowCVP is exhibiting at Coach and Bus Live, taking place at Birmingham's NEC on 7-8 October, and will be working with the Department for Transport's Green Bus Fund to help promote interest in the adoption of low carbon buses. Coach and Bus Live is the major bus industry event taking place this year and the first since the welcome reforms to the system of bus subsidies. The LowCVP is launching a new low carbon bus microsite on 7 October to coincide with the event.
The LowCVP will be exhibiting at stand T45 in the Technology Zone of the exhibition, providing expert advice to bus manufacturers on how to certify low carbon buses. Representatives from the Department for Transport will also be on hand to answer questions about applying for the Department’s £30m Green Bus Fund for low carbon buses.
Jonathan Murray, Deputy Director of theLowCVP and Helen Pritchard, Head of Bus Subsidy Team at the DfT, will be holding a joint lunchtime seminar in the exhibition hall to answer bus operators’ questions on low carbon buses and on the Green Bus Fund. The seminars will be held at 12:50 on both the 7 and 8 October.
Helen Pritchard will tour the show with Simon Posner, the CPT Chief Executive, and Ian Morgan, the CPT President, on the first morning.
Exhibitors at the show - which is now fully subscribed - include manufacturers such as ADL, Volvo and the Wright Group who have supplied low carbon bus technology now successfully operating in London in the TfL hybrid bus trials.
The LowCVP's low carbon bus microsite will be going live on the 7 October (linked from the LowCVP website home page). The microsite has been created to provide bus operators, manufacturers and local transport authorities with a resource to help them in their assessment, planning and implementation of the roll-out of low carbon buses. The site will provide information on:
· What is a low carbon bus?
· How does a bus manufacturer certify a low carbon emission bus?
· How bus operators claim BSOG for low carbon emission buses?
· How local authorities and bus operators bid for Green Bus Funding support?
· Which manufacturers supply low carbon emission buses?
· What local transport authorities can do to support low carbon emission buses?
· What developments there are in the market for these vehicles?
