LowCVP held another successful Annual Conference and an inaugural Awards Dinner, at Twickenham Stadium on 14-15 July. 8 out of 10 respondents rated the Conference as either 'very good' or 'good' with 9 out of 10 giving similar ratings to the Awards Dinner.

The After-Dinner speaker, Antony Sheriff of Mclaren, was particularly highly rated by dinner attendees. Over half of respondents said they would definitely attend the Awards Dinner if it is held again next year.

Over 200 people attended the LowCVP's Annual Conference and over 150, the first Low Carbon Champions Awards Dinner. The event was addressed by Transport minister Norman Baker and included numerous announcements and launches by the LowCVP and partner organisations. Over 40 speakers took part in the event over a day and a half. Their presentations from the event are now available on the LowCVP website (see associated link).

In addition to the announcement of the Low Carbon Champions, there were several other LowCVP news announcements and launches at the Conference:

Winners of the LowCVP/EST Community Challenge
A LowCVP/SMMT/ISBA report into Best Practice Principles in Environmental Marketing
The LowCVP's HGV Technology Challenge to promote low carbon innovation in the freight sector
A new report on car buyer attitudes and information, prepared for the LowCVP was issued
Also announced at the Conference was the RFA's report into the second-year performance of biofuels supplied to the UK market under the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation.

Full details and press release, as well as pictures, are available via the associated links.

There has been widespread media coverage of the announcements made at the Conference including reports on the speaker presentations in both the plenary and break-out sessions. Over 60 items of news coverage have been picked up by the LowCVP Secretariat since the announcements were made.

A prize draw was provided as an incentive for delegates to provide feedback. The winners, who will receive a bottle of fine English wine each are Daniel Carter of Conduit Ventures and Simon Graham of Commercial Group.
