The LowCVP is hosting a Parliamentary reception in the House of Commons on the afternoon of March 9, 2015. The reception will feature an exhibition of dynamic UK companies that are leading the way in low carbon road transport innovation, helping to deliver environmental benefits as well as successfully generating growth and jobs. (Download brochure here.)
The Parliamentary event will include the launch of a new report by Cambridge Econometrics - 'Fuelling Britain's Future' about the economic impact of low carbon vehicles in the UK - which has been commissioned by the European Climate Foundation. The exhibition will provide some real world examples of the report's findings.
The SME’s to be featured were selected from a large number and range of submissions, highlighting the vibrancy of this sector. They represent the full breadth of the LowCVP community, covering not just the automotive technology sector but innovators in the fuels that power transport as well as the operators making innovative use of these products.
The winners chosen to exhibit at the event are:
-
Celtic Renewables
-
is commercialising the production of biobutanol as an advanced
-
biofuel from the residues of the £4 billion Scottish malt whisky industry
-
Controlled Power Technologies brings powertrain, power electronics and control software expertise together to develop & commercialise emissions-reduction technologies now being sought by vehicle manufacturers.
-
GnewtCargo provides a final mile delivery service in London which uses electric vehicles and advanced logistics to minimise emissions in the capital.
-
Mercury Fuel Systems offers dual fuel LPG/diesel systems for heavy commercial vehicles which cut fuel costs as well as carbon emissions.
-
Meteor Power is developing the first downsized low carbon, hybrid engine for use in high performance motorcycles and lightweight sports cars.
-
Protean Electric specialises in the design, development and manufacture of in-wheel and compact electric motor and drive technology for the automotive and cleantech markets.
-
Revolve Technologies is an engineering and service provider to the automotive R&D sector specialising in developing low carbon technology solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids and hydrogen applications.
-
Tevva Motors is developing for production the first commercially viable range-extended electric urban delivery truck. Tevva’s innovative solution is applicable to both newbuilds as well as the retrofit of older vehicles.
Several other exceptional innovators failed to make the cut for inclusion in the exhibition but were included in the short-list. These included:
-
Dearman is a global technology company delivering clean ‘cold and power’. Their technology uniquely harnesses liquid air to deliver zero emission power and cooling. It is developing a portfolio of proprietary products and services, which deliver significant reductions in cost, fuel usage and emissions.
-
E-Car Club is an entirely electric pay-per-use car club designed to provide members of carefully selected communities and businesses throughout the UK with access to a fleet of low carbon vehicles without the high cost, emissions levels or 'hassle factor' of private ownership.
-
Eco Travel Network is creating networks which enable residents, businesses and visitors in rural areas of the UK to travel around locally using ultra-low energy electric vehicles which can be realistically powered by domestic and community sources of solar, hydro and wind.
-
Evergreen Gas designs, builds and installs anaerobic digestion (AD) plants for farms and communities. The company also makes small biogas upgrade units to produce vehicle fuel from biogas enabling AD plant operators to generate renewable electricity, heat and vehicle fuel from a variety of feedstocks.
-
Fleetdrive Electric leases and rents Ultra Low Emission Vehicles. It provides sustainable fleet consultancy and training to UK businesses and public organisations, helping them convert road miles to zero or ultra-low emission transport.
-
Gasrec supplies Bio-LNG, a combination of liquefied landfill and natural gas, as an alternative fuel to diesel for use in HGVs.It offers a low carbon fuel that is available today and immediately reduces CO2 and other harmful emissions at the point of use.
-
Greenwatt Technology designs and develops funded projects which not only establish the business and environmental cases for a move away from fossil fuels, but also ‘change hearts and minds’ through effective knowledge transfer, user demonstrations and integrated solutions.
-
IPDI Innovations is licensing unique IP to enable automotive suspension technology that helps allow the lowest CO2, NOx and particulate emissions in a fully enclosed, fully powered road vehicle - an Ultra Efficient VehicleTM (UEVTM).
-
Microcab Industries designs and builds hydrogen fuel cell hybrid vehicles for urban duty as taxis, freight delivery vans and car sharing mobility clubs. It has produced acomplete working hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, freight delivery van and 4-seat car version.
-
Route Monkey is a leading provider of software, modelling and scheduling technology for solving complex mobility problems via powerful optimisation algorithms and associated applications. Its toolkit focuses on lowering emissions, improving air quality and generating efficiencies through better planning of resources.
-
Weald Technology (in partnership with Lyra Electronics) specialises in sustainable transport engineering and the development of low carbon powertrains for motorsport and niche vehicles. The partners offered to showcase developments in active battery balancing, rapid charging, and energy storage.
Please note that this the Parliamentary reception and prior seminar on March 9 are LowCVP member-priority events. The event is very heavily subscribed but there are a few places left for LowCVP members (non-members who would like to attend should consider joining the Partnership).
