New LowCVP Innovation Award: The LowCVP has announced a new Award for Low Carbon Road Transport Innovation to be offered to the most impressive entry(ies) to Cleantech Innovate 2014; the largest innovation showcase of its kind in the UK.
The LowCVP is announcing the new prize against the backdrop of its involvement at Low Carbon Vehicles 2013, the largest UK trade show for low carbon vehicles and fuels. It will be awarded to the entry – or entries – judged to be the most impressive in the area of road transport.
Cleantech Innovate 2014 celebrates green industry innovation across a range of UK sectors in a unique one-day format. The deadline for entries to take part in the Cleantech Innovate Showcase and, therefore, to be eligible for the LowCVP Award is 7 October.
Online Low Carbon Automotive Directory: With the publication of the automotive industrial strategy and recent announcements of significant funding support to the UK sector, focus on the UK low carbon automotive industry has never been greater. The Low Carbon Automotive Directory (LCAD) hosted by the LowCVP and supported by UKTI and the Government’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) will provide the ideal online resource to search for people and businesses working in this arena and will enable those all-important initial contacts to be made.
First produced as hard copy in 2009 and updated since, the Directory provides information on the capabilities of wide a range of UK companies and organisations involved in the low carbon automotive sector. The Directory has been used previously to support UKTI trade missions. It is being updated for 2013 and brought into an online format, to allow comprehensive search and mapping functions.
The aim of the online LCAD is to greatly enhance the relevance for UK companies looking for service and partners. It will act as a one-stop reference guide to UK businesses and other organisations with a stake in the development of low carbon vehicles and fuels.
University- SME link event: The LowCVP and UKTI are to host a first “Meet the University” reception at LCV2013. The networking reception, which will take place on Wednesday 4th September 2013 between 5pm and 6:30pm, will be held in Hall 2. It aims to provide an opportunity for UK university representatives to meet with industry participants, including overseas visitors, UK SMEs, as well as UKTI overseas officers.
The LowCVP will be introducing a new toolkit at the event: ‘Accessing Research Expertise’ is a resource document to help promote SME engagement with the academic research sector. It is an output from a LowCVP/SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) project which explored issues around the engagement of SMEs with the research sector.
LowCVP Membership promotion: Any organisation considering joining the Partnership will be offered a 20% discount on annual membership fees if they register to join at LCV 2013. All members and others will be welcomed to the LowCVP's stand: C2-31 for further information about any of the above-mentioned or other LowCVP initiatives.
