LowCVP and Innovate UK will be showcasing some of the best in low emission truck and van technology at the upcoming LCV 2018 Event to be held at Millbrook, Bedfordshire, on 12-13 September. Projects supported through the Low Emission Freight Trial (LEFT) will be on display on the Steering Pad (SP18) and will join a convoy to leave the show on the second day.
The Low Emission Freight Trial (LEFT) will see lorries and vans try out different technologies designed to lower greenhouse gas and polluting emissions. Technogies to be trialled include battery electric, biomethane and hydrogen dual-fuel solutions. They are part of a £20 million government programme funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and Innovate UK.
Delegates are invited to drop in for a cup of coffee and have a chat about the LEFT, the funding mechanisms and the various low emission technologies that are being tested in real-world situations.
The aim of the trial is to demonstrate new technologies and to encourage the widespread introduction of low and zero emission vehicles to UK fleets. Data from the trial vehicles is currently being collected and an analysis of the performance, cost savings and environmental impacts of the different vehicle technologies will be reported in due course.
At the end of the second day (Scheduled for 15:45) there will be a special ceremonial send off of the trucks as they leave Millbrook in convoy, after completing a lap of the High Speed Bowl test track lead by Robert Llewellyn (of 'Fully Charged' fame).
