There was a 24% increase in attendance at Cenex's Low Carbon Vehicle Event (LCV2014) compared with last year. Over 180 exhibitors took part, there were 103 vehicles on display (including 66 available for ride and drive) and 952 organisations were represented at the event. The LowCVP's Managing Director, Andy Eastlake said: "The LowCVP is proud to have been a supporting partner of LCV2014. The event demonstrated that the UK low carbon vehicle industry is in rude health; full of vibrancy and innovation and extending across more and more vehicle types."
LCV2014 also featured, for the first time, a Gala Dinner held by Cenex in collaboration with the LowCVP and including the announcement of the winners of the LowCVP's Low Carbon Champions Awards. (See related story.)
Other highlights at LCV2014 (at which the LowCVP was also an exhibitor) were the attendance of Minister of State for Transport, Baroness Kramer; the unveiling of the Yamaha Formula One inspired MOTIV.e car by Professor Gordon Murray and Innovate UK; Ricardo’s launch of the first functional integration prototype of the Advanced Diesel Electric Powertrain; the launch of The Ogunmuyiwa Engine Cycle; Mitsubishi’s launch of it’s PHEV Outlander Light Commercial Vehicle; the announcement of the Niche Vehicle Network R&D competition winner and the launch of the Cenex FCRT Lite.
