Innovate UK and OLEV launch latest Low Carbon Vehicle funding competitions

Two new £20m competitions from Innovate UK and the Office of Low Emission Vehciles aimed at driving down vehicle emissions have been launched. 

A new £20m competition run by Innovate UK on lightweight vehicles competition will fund colloborative research and development into significant weight reductions in the pursuit of lower CO2 emissions. Innovate UK has said projects funded by this competition will have the opportunity for follow-on support via the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to further develop the products and processes towards commercialisation. Proposals must be collaborative and be led by a UK-based business organisation. The competition runs in two stages and opens for applications on 24 August 2015. The deadline for registration is noon on 7 October 2015, and the deadline for applications is at noon on 14 October 2015.

Integrated Delivery Programme 12 (IDP 12) will provide £20m in funding to support feasibility studies as well as collaborative R&D projects to lower CO2 and other emissions. Innovate is looking for submissions focussing on one or more of the following areas:

  • electric machines and power electronics
  • energy storage and energy management
  • lightweight vehicle and powertrain structures
  • internal combustion engines
  • highly disruptive technologies which will significantly accelerate the reduction of CO2 and other emissions beyond the route achieved through standard product development projects

This competition opens for applicants on 7 September 2015. The deadline for registration is at noon on 21 October 2015 and the deadline for applications is at noon on 28 October 2015.

A joint briefing day will be held on 3rd September. Further information will also be available from the Innovate UK team at the Cenex LCV2015 show on 9/10 September at Millbrook proving ground.
