The Government has announced that it will not go ahead with the planned inflation increase in fuel duties on 1 September - including for rebated oils, biofuels and road fuel gases. The position will be reviewed again at the time of the Pre-Budget Report.
The Government says that the decision has been taken due to the short-term uncertainty in the oil markets where the risk of price volatility remains high. Oil has recently been trading at a little below $60 per barrel.
