The Department for Transport has published an assessment of the overall energy implications of the large-scale use of renewable hydrogen and biofuels in road transport: 'Liquid biofuels and Renewable Hydrogen to 2050'.
DfT drew on technical analysis prepared by E4tech (UK) Ltd, and a study led by the National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection (NSCA) and the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP). Expert input from a broad group of stakeholders is reflected in the report and particular advice came from the Fuels Working Group of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and the Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board.
