The Government has published a document outlining its strategy for achieving a ‘green economy’. The report, developed by Defra, BIS and DECC, aims to clarify the definition of a ‘green economy’, what policies need to be put in place to achieve it and how they will be implemented.

The report or ‘roadmap’ is entitled “Enabling the Transition to a Green Economy: Government and business working together”. It describes planned Government action across areas including climate change, resource efficiency, waste prevention, carbon capture and storage, transport and renewable electricity generation.

The roadmap is intended to form part of a continuing dialogue between Government, business and communities on greening the economy. This transition is seen as a key element of the Governments Plan for Growth.
