The German Parliament has approved a new scheme that will require cars and lorries to be labelled according to the amount of particulates they emit. The move will give local authorities the power to ban dirtier vehicles when pollution levels are high.
The labels will be colour-coded and will cover all vehicles conforming to either Euro 4 or Euro 5.
According to a report in ENDS, members of Germany's Green Party criticised the Bundesrat's move, arguing it would discourage the development of cleaner vehicles.
