Vauxhall's fuel cell powered HydroGen3, has nearly doubled the distance record for a fuel cell car in completing a journey from northern Norway to western Portugal in 38 days. The Zafira-based prototype covered 9,696 kilometres.
According to GM, the Fuel Cell Marathon helps to prove the durability and reliability of hydrogen-powered vehicles. During the 20 stages of the Marathon, GM say that there was not a single report of an unscheduled stop for repair - the only repairs made were a software update at the beginning of the tour, the replacement of five temperature sensors and the exchange of the mechanical parking mechanism.
