HM Revenue and Customs and Kelly Communications Plant were the winners of the best public and private sector fleet respectively in the latest Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards. The Awards demonstrate how organisations operating fleets in the private and public sectors are able to reduce their CO2 emissions and showcase those who are making outstanding or pioneering achievements in green fleet management.
The Fleet Heroes Awards are organised by the Energy Saving Trust in conjuction with the Guardian newspaper and the CBI. The latest announcements, made in early February, were the fifth time the EST has run the Awards.
Transport Minister Norman Baker who presented the awards said: "While much of the debate on tackling climate change focuses on long term solutions, fleets can make an active and meaningful contribution today. Organisations both large and small can make a real difference through procuring greener, cleaner vehicles, improving fuel consumption through driver training or simply by reducing business travel.”
The Fleet Hero Awards recognises those who have not only taken steps to help the environment but have also taken steps to save both money and resources. The full list of Awards winners in 2011 is:
