The £5m public sector EV-readiness programme announced last Autumn will target central Government departments in 2014-15, before being rolled out to the wider public sector.
In a Parliamentary answer to a question by shadow transport minister Richard Burden MP, the transport minister Robert Goodwill MP said that full details of the initiative are still being worked on and the aim is to launch the initiative in April 2014, The original commitment to invest £5 million during 2014-15 in a large-scale electric vehicle readiness programme for public sector fleets was made in the National Infrastructure Plan, published in late 2013.
