The European Commission's DG-Environment has launched a new website which aims to provide a database of policies which have been adopted outside the European Economic Area to mitigate transport emissions. The initiative is intended to provide ideas and evidence on the impact of policies for the benefit of policy makers within the EU.

The project, known as T-MAPPER - “Transport Measures And Policies to Promote Emission Reductions” -  is the outcome of a study to better understand and support the actions being taken outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) to mitigate transport emissions.

The project aims are to;

•Provide a comprehensive understanding of policies being enacted outside the EEA to reduce the climate impact of the transport sector, some of which could be transferred to EEA countries, and
•Provide information on possible mechanisms to support the reduction, or avoidance, of increases in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from transport (in other areas of the world).

The Commission is inviting policy professionals from other countries to share knowledge about the effectiveness of their national policies through the T-MAPPER site.
