The European Commission adopted its first Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP)
The Commission intends to establish several technology platforms, including the European Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Platform, launched on 20 January 2004. It will develop environmental performance targets for key products, processes and services based on best environmental performance. The Action Plans quotes CO2 performance targets for cars and requirements for public procurement procedures as examples.
EU Heads of States will discuss the ETAP at their Spring Summit in March. The Commission will begin with its implementation immediately.
