EST 'Plugged-in fleets' report reveals potential for fleet cost savings

A new report by the Energy Saving Trust finds that businesses that switch to electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles could reduce their fleet fuel costs by 75 per cent.

The report, funded by Transport for London and the Department for Transport, also finds that organisations that operate vehicles with mileage below 80 miles per day could run a pure electric vehicle fleet as their needs would be met by a single overnight charge.

Twenty of the UK’s leading organisations were analysed and given practical advice on how to adapt their fleets to plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The Department for Transport announced that the Coalition Government has agreed to provide £280,000 of additional funding to help a further 100 fleets understand where and how ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) could work for them.
