Revenue and Customs has closed a tax break for biofuel made from waste oil saying that it does not meet the quality standard necessary to qualify for the 20p/litre tax benefit.
According to a report in The Guardian, some businesses making biodiesel from waste vegetable oil and which is used by about 4,000 people in the UK now face closure
The move has attracted strong criticism from Bio-power, an organisation representing several hundred producers of biofuel in the UK, as well as from the Conservative's environment shadow minister, Bill Wiggin.
