Introducing a consultation on nation-wide road pricing in Holland, the Dutch Government has described road pricing as 'inevitable' and has undertaken to win public support for the concept.
The policy paper does not propose the use of specific technologies for road pricing but focuses on the creation of a stakeholder "platform" to begin a public debate with the objective of producing recommendations next spring.
The Dutch Government is also to invest €1bn in innovation programmes aimed at making traffic cleaner and quieter.
