The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has recently published a report describing potential pathways to higher uptake of electric vehicles (EVs). The CCC has identified EVs as a key route to the long term decarbonisation of the road transport sector.

The CCC commissioned Element Energy, Ecolane and the University of Aberdeen to characterise pathways to deliver high rates of adoption of electric vehicles in the car and van sectors to 2030.

The report ncludes an assessment of the current, near-term and potential market for electric vehicles, the identification of barriers to EV adoption, measures to accelerate EV purchase and use and the development of a timeline for delivering increases in EV uptake. The final report was published in December 2013.
