Business fleets to get transport carbon footprint with EST's new 'Fleet Health Check'

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) has launched a free Fleet Health Check to provide fleet operators with a transport carbon footprint and recommendations for next steps to help reduce costs and emissions.

This service is free and EST’s advice is completely impartial and is straightforward to use.  Interested businesses simply need to answer a few questions about their business vehicles.

David Watts, Fleet Partnership Manager at the Energy Saving Trust, said: "Organisations are under increasing pressure to reduce fleet emissions and operating costs.  Our new carbon footprinting service has been developed to help employers understand the impact of their transport operations and take steps towards reducing emissions.

He noted that the cost to business of emitting a tonne of CO2 from road transport was nearly twice that of electricity at £600. Therefore even small changes to reduce carbon emissions from a company's fleet would have a positive economic impact.

Funded by the Department for Transport, the EST has worked with hundreds of businesses of all sizes to help them reduce their carbon footprint and save money.

On completion of a Fleet Health Check, organisations will automatically gain EST Motorvate member status.  Benefits include access to free advice and funding offers and use of the member logo to promote the business' environmental credentials.
