A LowCVP exhibition at the LCV2015 Event will showcase some outputs of a project to assess the economic and technical prospects for smaller - L-Category - vehicles in the UK and the potential for their growth to 2020. Under the banner 'Bigger Thinking on Smaller Vehicles' the exhibition will feature futuristic designs of two, three and smaller four-wheel vehicles produced by students of industrial design at Coventry University, one of the project partners.

L-category vehicles are powered 2 and 3 wheel vehicles, quadricycles and micro cars. This includes motorbikes and scooters which account for the largest part of the current L-category market. Although there are relatively few L-category vehicles compared to M and N categories (passenger and goods vehicles with at least 4 wheels) in the UK, they much are smaller, lighter, take up less road space and offer innovative alternatives for mobility, particularly in cities.

The purpose of the LowCVP-led project is to provide an assessment of the current L-category vehicle market in the UK, and to quantify the potential environmental and economic benefits from growth in this sector.

As well as Coventry University, project partners include Loughborough University (ULV Research Group), Cardiff University, Oxford Brookes University, Queen's University Belfast and the University of Warwick. Stakeholders from industry, local government and motoring interest groups, such as the SMMT, are also part of the discussion.

The L-Category exhibition will take place on Stands C-102 and C-103 at LCV2015. The project is one of several that comprise the LowCVP's work programme for 2015-16 which will be featured under the banner 'Bigger Thinking on Greener Vehicles' on stand C3-316 at the show.

The 2015 LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards will be presented at a networking dinner in Milton Keynes on 9 September - the middle evening of LCV 2015. Taking place at the Doubletree by Hilton at the MK Dons Stadium, the event has become a central meeting point for all key stakeholders within the industry. The dinner provides an ideal opportunity for the community to come together to discuss the issues of the day.

All LCV2015 delegates and exhibitors are invited to attend the dinner which will commence at 18:30 and includes a drinks reception, luxury three course meal, key note speaker address and awards ceremony.
