The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) has selected the University of Warwick as the site for its hub location. The hub aims to provide a focus for research and development activities for the extensive UK powertrain industry, by creating advanced propulsion systems that will help drive the future growth of the low carbon automotive industry.
The central hub together with a national spoke structure will provide the UK automotive industry with resources and facilities to develop systems and supply chains with a view to securing over 30,000 UK jobs currently engaged in the research, development and production of vehicle powertrains as the industry transitions to a low carbon future.
APC chief executive Tony Pixton, said, “The Advanced Propulsion Centre will support the UK automotive industry to become a global leader in the research, development and production of advanced propulsion systems.
The hub facility is due to open in the autumn and there will be further announcements about spoke locations later this year.
LowCVP has been engaged in supporting the establishment of the APC.
The APC was created from the collaboration between industry and government led through the Automotive Council and is a central pillar of the industrial strategy published in 2013.
