£75m Low Carbon R&D and Propulsion technologies fund launched

The Technology Strategy Board has announced that the second Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) competition is open for applications. £75 million is available and the fund will support collaborative R&D projects in the field of low-carbon propulsion technologies. 

Projects must primarily fall under either the industrial research or experimental development category, last for 18-42 months and cost between £5m and £40m. A vehicle manufacturer and/or a tier 1 supplier should be part of the project consortium to ensure there is a clear route to market. Collaborations must be business-led and address the specific requirements of the competition as outlined in the scope of the competition brief. The Technology Strategy Board will fund up to a maximum of 60% of eligible project costs for UK SMEs involved in a project and a maximum of 50% of eligible costs for large companies. Research organisations will be able to claim up to 100% of their eligible costs.

The competition opened on 8th May 2014. The deadline for registration is at noon on 25th June 2014 and the deadline for applications is at noon on 2nd July 2014.
