As part of a Department for Transport scheme to facilitate innovation in the supply chain, the Railway Industry Association is holding a free workshop in Birmingham which potential beneficiaries of unprecedented levels of national investment and of innovation incentive schemes are invited to attend. This presents a networking opportunity for automotive sector companies with an interest future business in the rail sector.
The workshop is being held at Centro House in central Birmingham on the 12th December commencing 10:00hrs. Places are limited and available on a 'first come - first served' basis, subject to the need to ensure a good mix of organisations. Places are free of charge and include refreshments and lunch. Prior registration is essential.
This workshop will commence with a presentation from Tony Harper, Head of Research & Advanced System Engineering at Jaguar Land Rover. New funding opportunities in the rail sector will also be presented. There will also be a session on creative techniques giving you tools that you can take back to workplace with you but also setting us in the right frame of mind for breakout sessions on:
1. Using on-board stored energy systems to overcome discontinuities in light rail power supplies.
2. Adopting the automotive platooning concept in rail transport.
3. Delivering a safe platform train interface under automatic operation.
4. Self-powered remote condition monitoring.
Companies are eligible to participate in the workshops if they have a technological presence in the UK and capabilities that have potential to benefit the rail sector (domestically or internationally)
