Description:

The third SMMT International Automotive Summit will take place at Millbank Tower, Westminster on 28 June 2011 and will cover topics from retail to the supply chain and from international investment to low carbon technologies. The speaker line-up includes Stephen Odell, Group Vice President and Chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe and Mark Prisk, Minister for Business and Enterprise at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The day of speeches, panel debates and parallel sessions will cater for interests from a diverse spectrum of industry sectors.

Tickets can be purchased at www.smmtsummit.co.uk and are £250 for SMMT members and £400 for non members.

Delegate numbers are strictly limited, and tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.

The session tackling low carbon issues will include presentations from internationally renowned experts in high-efficiency internal combustion, hybrid power, electric vehicles and low-energy manufacture including:

- Constantinos Vafidis, Fiat Powertrain Research and Technology, Transmissions and Hybrids Director
- Jon Goodman, Managing Director of Peugeot UK
- Peter Richings, Jaguar Land Rover’s Chief Engineer, Hybrids

Following the manufacturer presentations, there will be a Q&A panel with Angus Wilby, Head of Energy Services at EDF Energy, Michael Hurwitz, Director of the Office for Low Emission Vehicles, who will give an insight on the first six months of the Plug-In Car Grant and Dr Ben Lane of the transport consultancy, Ecolane, will talk about how to market effectively low carbon vehicles to consumers and give an independent overview of the competing emerging technologies.
