Description:

NOTE: Venue and Time Change for Seminar - 1:30 - 3:15pm at One Birdcage Walk (IMechE). Registration 1pm.

This Parliamentary reception and associated seminar mark the start of an initiative to bring the climate change and air quality communities closer together and to help ensure that UK vehicle and transport fuel policy is most effectively oriented towards tackling these twin threats. This event is jointly hosted by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) and the Clean Air Alliance (CAA).

The news that London has already breached annual pollution limits just one week into 2016, and that the Government has announced plans to introduce Clean Air Zones in five areas by 2020, provides a timely opportunity to discuss the benefits of the lower carbon and air quality communities working together.  This Parliamentary reception and seminar will include the announcement of a joint, high-level communiqué agreed between the lower carbon and air quality communities.  Confirmed speakers include Isabel Dedring, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport; Edmund King OBE, President, AA; Dr Jon Lamonte, Chief Executive, Transport for Greater Manchester; Dan Byles, Chair, Clean Air Alliance and Andy Eastlake, Managing Director, LowCVP.

The event will provide an opportunity to meet guests and exhibitors from the policy-making community, automotive and fuel supply chains, academics and environment groups.

A seminar in the House of Commons will precede the reception which will discuss how coordinated policy action can serve both agendas and mitigate any areas of potential conflict.
