Description:
As new fuel and vehicle technologies – like electricity and biofuels – are introduced to drive road transport we will need to assess emissions arising ‘beyond the tailpipe’. Attend the LowCVP Conference and find out what these profound changes will mean for your organisation. Speakers at the LowCVP's 2013 Annual Conference include transport minister Norman Baker MP plus leading representatives of the European Commission, CONCAWE, Department for Transport and the Commitee on Climate Change.
The Conference is held in association with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
Speakers already confirmed for the event include David Kennedy, Chief Executive of the Committee on Climate Change; Michael Hurwitz, Director Greener Transport and International; DfT and Ian Hodgson of DG-CLIMA, the EC's Climate Action Directorate.
With growing numbers of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles expected to be on the road in the future, and with a range of other potential alternative fuels available, greenhouse gas emissions arising from road transport will occur 'beyond the tailpipe' at different stages in the energy and product life cycles. Policymakers will need to get to grips with the implications of these changes in the context of plans and targets to mitigate climate change.
The LowCVP's 2013 annual conference aims to explore this policy landscape and set out some stepping stones on the road to this goal. The event will focus on the technical implications of the move to a more holistic view of emissions analysis and also look at what will need to be done to engage consumers in the process.
Speakers already confirmed for the 2013 annual conference include:
Dr David Kennedy, Committee on Climate Change
Ian Hodgson, DG-CLIMA, European Commission
Michael Hurwitz, Department for Transport
David Quarmby, RAC Foundation
Professor Neville Jackson, Ricardo-AEA (Chair, LowCVP)
Philippa Oldham, Institution of Mechanical Engineers
Andy Eastlake, Managing Director, LowCVP
Further speakers and event timings will be announced shortly.
