Description:

The LowCVP Managing Director, Andy Eastlake will speak at a PRASEG (Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group) & APPCCG (All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group) meeting to be held in the House of Commons. The meeting will look at the high level trends that have driven - and will continue to drive - the automotive sector in an increasingly low carbon direction.

The last decade has seen the UK automotive industry make a gradual, but significant shift to low carbon vehicles. This has been driven by changes in policy at both the UK and EU level including targets set out in the UK Carbon Plan to provide infrastructure to support the shift to low carbon vehicles.

Technological advancements have also led to a proliferation of choice and better efficiency of low carbon vehicles, further supporting a rise in public demand.

This All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group (APPCCG) and Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group (PRASEG) meeting will assess the UK transport infrastructure for low carbon vehicles (past, present and future); discuss if we are on track to achieve the targets set out in the UK Carbon Plan; examine the role of manufacturers; and look ahead to what the future of transport infrastructure will look like.

Chair: Joan Walley MP

Speakers:

  • Richard Bruce, Head of the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV)
  • Andy Eastlake, Managing Director, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LCVP)
  • Konstanze Scharring, Director of Policy, The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)
  • Malcolm Fergusson, Independent Policy Consultant, Transport and the Environment (T&E)
